How to Share Your Artworks Publicly

If you want to share your artworks publicly on Facebook, Jacqui would love that! It’s a great way to build your confidence and she is always very grateful for you sharing what you’ve learned from her teaching.

All you need to do is tag Jacqueline Hill, Zen and the Art of Art, or Art at Heart to acknowledge where the inspiration and teaching has come from. The photos below show you how — you must type the ‘@’ symbol on your keyboard (look above the 2 key) and then start typing the name right after (no space in between) for the list to pop up.

NOTE: For Instagram, this will be @jacqueline.hill.artist or @zenartdojo

A Mini Lesson in Copyright for Photos

For a License Free Photo (CC0)

When the photo we are working from is license-free, we don’t need to worry about copyright or credit. We will let you know if there is copyright on any of your reference photos, but always feel free to ask if you aren’t sure.

For All Other Photos (Copyright)

When photos are taken by Jacqueline Hill, another student, or another artist, the images are not copyright free. It’s important to give credit to the photographer. First, you ask them for permission to paint from their photo, then when you share your painting, say something like:

“Baby Elephant” watercolor. Painted from a photo taken by [Photographer’s Name], used with permission.

When the photo/s we are working from are copyrighted by Jacqueline Hill, please acknowledge her work like this when sharing your art publicly:

“[YOUR ARTWORK NAME]” in [MEDIUM] painted from an original photograph by Jacqueline Hill, used with permission.

For an Original Artwork (Copyright)

When using an original artwork as a reference, it is not copyright free. It’s important to give credit to the artist. First, you ask them for permission to paint from their artwork, then when you share your painting, say something like:

“Baby Elephant” watercolor. Painted from an artwork by [Artist’s Name], used with permission.

When the painting we are working from is copyrighted by Jacqueline Hill, please acknowledge her artwork like this when sharing your work publicly:

“[YOUR ARTWORK NAME]” in [MEDIUM] painted from an original painting by Jacqueline Hill, used with permission.

Your Privacy

We love celebrating your art success and having you in our classes. We also value your privacy and want you to know that others may see or hear your information when you:

Join Zoom Sessions. We record all Zoom sessions such as an Anytimer Catchups, workshops, one-on-one sessions, etc. This recording can include:

    • your voice and background noises your microphone picks up

    • your face and background visuals your camera can see

    • anything you send in the Zoom chat.

Comment, Post or Message on Lessons or in Facebook. When you comment on our video lessons in your My Dojo or in our Facebook groups or Messenger chats can be seen by people such as:

    • others with access to that lesson, Facebook group or Facebook chat

    • our Dojo Support team.

We may occasionally use these to help grow and inspire more creatives as:

    • mini courses or other video tutorials

    • congratulation announcements

    • promotional invitations to the Art Zen Dojo.

When sharing these, we may use your first name, the first letter of your last name and a rough location (such as one of the following: country, state or city). If we share an image of your artwork as a single image, where possible we will use a copyright overlay attributing the artwork to you.

Please contact us if you would prefer any of these specific details to not be used in promotional invitations.

Other Information & Security. We only ever use your information to provide Dojo Services. Your contact and billing information is always secure and will never be shared without your permission.
