Meet the Artists

Lisa Bagnall

Lisa Bagnall

I have been learning about art after I lost the ability to read and write in 2010.
Jacquie’s lessons from 2014 to current have opened my world to discover joy, self value and creativity
I paint oceans waves because I love their depth and moods, as I love life and its nuances.
I love pottery for the tactile strength and connection to a creativity style that is real for me.

Meredith Baxter

Meredith Baxter

I began lessons with Jacqueline Hill in 2018 with learning to draw classes as I was hoping to create a visual travel journal for a special overseas holiday. Since going into semi-retirement I’ve done a number of classes with JH. After working in education, I am now free to pursue my interests in learning art and Italian, book clubs, keeping fit and spending time with family.

Blake Blacker

Blake Blacker

Blake has had an interest in creating artworks since childhood. While he has experimented with different mediums he always comes back to pencil drawings. Blake was initially interested in creating manga style art however has progressed to artworks that combine a comic style with realism.

Jillian Blacker

Jillian Blacker

Jillian has always been interested in creative outlets from creative writing to cross-stitch and now art. Jillian has dabbled in classes with Jacqueline Hill for a few years and is currently producing original pieces in expressionist abstract style that reflect her love of music.

Kevin Blake

Having worked in science for my entire career with high tech’ equipment (and
with things that go ‘ping’) I decided to try drawing a couple of years ago as a way to relax and declutter my brain. I tried and failed at traditional meditation, but creating through art is my personal Zen.

Joanne Coleman

Joanne Coleman

I’ve been flirting with creating art forever and in the last few years have found the courage to connect with my inner artist with the help of a wonderfully patient and wise Sensei. I create in an impressionist style using a variety of mediums. From quirky portraits in acrylics to delicious landscapes in soft pastels and all mediums and subjects in between.

Sarah Doherty

Sarah Doherty

A jack of all trades, book writer, artist, but primarily a wife and a mum. Born in Barbados, lived 10 years in England and 32 years in Australia. I look at myself as a cosmopolitan — a citizen of the world.

Joan Faux

Joan Faux

I’ve always appreciated beautiful paintings but never took up the brushes regularly until retirement. I have trained under some wonderful teachers. I particularly love painting landscapes, but love the challenge of taking on new subjects to paint. Painting is a wonderful ‘escape’, I love it. I also love connecting with other artists and sharing this wonderful world of beauty.

Jacqui’s classes have been a start of something I’ve always wanted to do and now I can do it!

And it’s such a happy environment.

Cassandra Hanley

Jill Hills

Last year I attended a Learn to Draw class with Jacqui and enjoyed it so much I have attended other classes.

Brooke Ladd

I have always been drawn to artistic pursuits and am currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Visual Culture, learning about art and it’s influences. After exploring different mediums independently, at University and with Jacqueline Hill via her classes I have found I predominantly work with Oils due to the ability to play with a rich colour palette, I also enjoy sketching using charcoal and graphite. Focusing on nature, drawing inspiration from many elements including detailed flowers, sweeping landscapes, the intricacies of natural patterns and the immensity of seascapes.

Lynette Leishman

I didn’t even know how to hold a paintbrush really. When I was in primary school, the art teacher that I had thought art was a waste of time. So we very rarely had an art lesson. For the last 67 years, all I’ve done is just looked around. But in the last year, I’ve seen the colours. I see how many different colours are in grass! It’s just amazing.

Hazel Mastin

Hazel Mastin

I am a passionate midwife dedicated to providing platinum standard care to women and their families. Now I am finding the time to develop my hidden talents for artistic pursuits. Started learning with drawing, then dabbling pastels, watercolours, acrylics and oils through the last year. Still haven’t decided my favourite medium, but enjoying the relaxation of loosing myself in the art world.

I’m so absolutely bursting with pride at all my students and what they’ve accomplished. Some couldn’t even draw a stick figure when they started and thought they didn’t have a creative bone in their body and now they’re brave enought to show their own art to the world!
